Explanation of the Charts

In 1958 the Recording Industry of America launched the Gold and Platinum Awards program, this program was setup to measure the sales of sound recording. For individual albums the Gold Certification awards the achievement of 500,00 copies sold. The Platinum Certification awards the sale of 1,000,000 sold. The Mutli-Platinum Certification awards the sale of each additional consecutive million. The Diamond Certification awards sales of 10,000,000 copies or more of an album or single.

For Music Video Longform (Dvd/Vhs) Gold awards the sale of 50,000 units. The Platinum certification awards 100,000 units sold. The Multi Platinum certification awards 200,000 units sold or each additional 100,000 units sold.
